A painting I had not planned to paint when I did. I was meant to paint something else but I didn’t have the right paints for that. I really wanted to paint something that afternoon, that would only take an afternoon to paint, so I chose the butterfly. I had to make some quick decisions about background colour and paint colour without the usual time I give to consider those decisions. It turned out to be lots of fun to create and try some new combinations.
