” The Rainbow Parakeet
After seeing this magnificent bird on TV I was compelled to paint it. The colours and contrasts were so enticing. I searched through many images and tried to build a picture on my head. Originally I started painting it on a black background hoping the colours would pop, but it remained very flat.
Therefore I had to start again opting for a pale yellow background creating a contrast with the birds’ head, just like the colours on the body. I cropped the head the same way as I painted ‘The Eagle’, focusing on the head feathers and beak.
