The hardest part of this painting was the colour choices. I spent a long time deliberating over them. In fact, I started with the pink head, thinking it was going to be pink and white, but when I added white it looked wrong. I took a break from it before coming back with my final colour choice.
Orange was the way to go, especially with the background colour. The brighter the better! It needs to stand out more, as only the head is showing, popping out of the water to look at us.
