Chilli Plant
£37.50 – £65.50
So much detail. So little time.
When I chose to paint this I didn’t realise how long it would take. It was a time when I was in serious painting mode for my exhibition and was flying from one painting to the next. However, the more I painted the further away the finish line was.
It took time to make the table seem smooth and the same colour but also adding enough detail to make it look like the actual table. (This was my actual chilli plant from a couple of years ago). The detail in the pot and accuracy to get the lines straight. Then the different greens and highlights of the stems and leaves and deciding which parts to not include so it doesn’t look overcrowded. And finally the decision on how many chillies to include and how what stage of life I was going to paint them.
It was a lot, and tiring, but it challenged me to think differently and produce something I haven’t done before.
