As a young kid, I was obsessed with space and the cosmos; rockets, planets, galaxies, the lot. But what fascinated me most were the humans bold enough to step into the unknown: astronauts.
This golden astronaut was a gift. I love how it looked in my kitchen with the light shining on it and I felt inspired to paint it. My struggle was creating that same metallic look, but I decided it was one challenge I wasn’t going to win, so I relied more on the natural shine of the golden paint and using darker browns to create richer shadows and more depth.
