Primary colours.
The most vibrant and colourful birds in the sky. That was my challenge here. To do justice to the colour they give to wildlife they inhabit.
The toughest part painting this was trying to bring the correct hues to the feathers as they changed from one colour to another. But once I solved the problem I loved the outcome. The branch it is sitting on was originally purple and silver but it didn’t look right and for a long time I pondered what to do. Then I thought gold! A bird of this beauty and joy deserves a golden pedestal.
