Not what I wanted. But I like it.
Like so many of my other paintings I have had a tortoise on my list for a long time. I have always loved tortoises, they just look very very cool. Of course the shell was my main focus. I set out to paint this in the same style as my Technicolour Lion painting. I don’t know why I keep trying to do replicate my previous paintings, it never works. This took (a lot of) time to for me to finally finish it. So many sessions thinking it was complete only to go back at least three times to complete it. You may have noticed that bits of yellow paint have cracked off. For some reason the primary yellow and prussian blue didn’t sit together. It was annoying but come the end it actually added to the gnarlyness of the tortoise.
