The legend.

I always loved her work for it’s colour and vibrancy. Only as I got older and eventually learned more and more about her life that I understood her work. Her own personal struggles, including an accident that left her resigned to her bed for a long time, lead her to create beautiful images. It was that story that really gave me an affinity with her (the drawing whilst bed bound part of her life and not quality of work. Hers is obviously much better).

 The blue background was chosen because her house was called Casa Azul. The look on her face portrays her own inner strength and determination. And of course the flowers had to be full of colour used in abundance in her work.
